The venture capital firm 5AM Ventures, which was founded in 2002, brought healthcare management specialist Scott Rocklage into the company as a Venture Partner in 2003, and just one year later, he became a Managing Partner there. Because of his vast experience in the business and medical industries, he was put into a position where he would be working with other business executives and healthcare professionals to assist them in turning their ideas into medicines that could be used to treat the health needs of those whose conditions have remained untreated due to the fact that a solution has not been found yet.
Before joining 5Am Ventures, Scott Rocklage served as the Chairman and CEO of Cubist Pharmaceuticals, where he was employed from 1994 to 2003. Having been in top positions at other healthcare businesses, as well as being the inventor of more than 30 patents in America, his experience with coming up with innovative ideas and being an effective leader spans over 3 decades. He was a student at the University of California’s Berkeley campus, where he graduated with a BS degree in Chemistry, then he attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he earned a PhD in Chemistry after being under the direction of Nobel Prize winner, Professor Richard R. Schrock.
Scott Rocklage is also the author of over a hundred peer-reviewed research papers, and he sits on the Board of Associates at the Whitehead Institute, a non-profit biomedical research organization. His previous work in several healthcare companies helped him develop the type of business skills that he applies when he carries out his responsibilities at 5AM Ventures. He credits his success in business to the fact that he is well-organized and knows how to manage time well.
5AM Ventures, which offers its clients early stage investment opportunities, is based in California, and was founded by John Diekman and Andrew Schwab. Scott Rocklage once stated that the reason why it is called 5AM Ventures is because it is a business that is still in its early stage. He currently lives in Florida with his wife, Patty, and he is the father of 3 adult children.
